Born in 1945 in the maternal home at 111, Chohyeon-ri, Sicheon-myeon, Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. He graduated from Sicheon National Primary School, Seocheon Middle School, Kongju National University of Education, and the Graduate School of Education at Chungnam National University. In 1964, he was appointed as a teacher at Gunnam National Primary School in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, subsequently working as a teacher at various elementary schools before becoming the vice-principal of Cheongyang Munseong National Primary School, a supervisor at the Chungnam Educational Institute, the vice-principal of Nonsan Hoam National Primary School, the principal of Gongju Wangheung Elementary School, the principal of Sangseo Elementary School, and the principal of Gongju Janggi Elementary School. He made his literary debut in 1971 by winning the Spring Literary Contest of the Seoul Newspaper (now Daehan Maeil), and has received many awards including the Soil Literature Award, Chungnam Culture Award, Modern Buddhism Literature Award, Park Yong-rae Literature Award, Poetry and Poetry Academic Award, Local Literature Award, and Pyeonun Literature Award. His first poetry collection, "Under the Bamboo Forest," was published in 1973, followed by an essay collection, "Starlight Reflecting in the Bamboo Forest," in 1981, a selection of poems, "Songs of Empty Hands," in 1988, a poetic picture book, "Even with a Loving Heart," in 1999, a three-author poetry collection "Poets Sleeping Under the Stars," with Lee Seong-seon and Song Su-kwon in 2001, a children’s story collection "Lonely One" in 2004, and various other literary works in fields such as poetry, essays, and children's literature including "Na Tae-joo's Poetry Collection," "Don't Cry, My Wife," and "A Few Days on Earth" in 2006. He has served as a member of the "Saeyeooleu Poetry Association" in 1972, a member of "Geumgang Poetry Village" in 1995, and was the president of the Chungnam Writers' Association from 1993 to 1994, the president of the Gongju Writers' Association from 2002 to 2003, and represented the Gongju Green Union from 2001 to 2002. Currently, he is active as a director of the Gongju Cultural Center, the editor-in-chief of the quarterly "Buddhist Literature," a co-editor of the bimonthly poetry magazine "People Who Love Poetry," and a co-chair of the local writers' association, as well as serving as the chair of the Korean Poets' Association's review committee.
