Altenbach Product Usage Instructions
How to Remove Stainless Steel Scale
- Moisten a kitchen towel with cooking oil and gently wipe the product.
- Sprinkle baking soda on the stainless steel and scrub with a sponge.
- Wash with dish detergent.
- Fill the container with water halfway, then add vinegar or citric acid, and boil gently for 5 minutes.
- Finish by washing again with dish detergent.
TIP: For areas with heavy scale or curved sections, using a soft sponge is recommended. Do not use baking soda or peroxide on internal coatings as this may damage the coating.
Usage Precautions for Stainless Steel Products
- Always remove scale before initial use of the stainless steel product.
- Since stainless steel products have very high heat conductivity, cooking is recommended at medium to low heat.
Induction cooktop: Preheat for 5-6 levels on 10-level scale for up to 5 seconds, then use.
Gas range: Preheat gently with low heat flame (within 30 seconds), then use under medium flame or lower.
Note: Failure to adjust heat properly may cause coating damage or other issues.
- Using a coated pan without any oil may damage the coating.
- Using an empty pan for a long time during heating (preheating) can damage the coating.
- Avoid sharp metal cooking tools; silicone tools are recommended.
- Direct cutting or chipping inside the container may damage the product.
- Do not store acidic foods for long periods.
- Even after turning off the heat, residual heat in the container keeps it very hot for a long time, so be careful to avoid burns.
- Stainless steel is prone to everyday scratches. These scratches are not product defects but inherent material characteristics.
Cleaning Precautions for Stainless Steel Products
- Do not place hot products immediately into cold water as rapid temperature changes may damage the coating.
- Do not forcibly scrape burned or stuck food; soak in warm water before washing.
- Avoid using abrasive detergents or harsh sponges; mild detergents and soft sponges are recommended.
- Stainless steel discoloration, spotting, and white marks from use are natural phenomena; if removal is needed, use vinegar or a stainless steel-specific cleaner on the surface.
Dishwasher Use Precautions
- Uncoated stainless steel products can be used in dishwashers.
- Coated pans can be used in dishwashers but frequent use may wear the coating or cause scratches; hand washing is recommended.
- Products containing wood materials are not dishwasher safe as wood may crack or the finish may peel.
Induction Cooktop Usage Precautions
- Use kitchenware suitable for induction such as stainless steel and cast iron. (Aluminum products may cause induction malfunction and should be avoided.)
- If used without contents, temperature can rise above 260°C causing product damage, fire, or burns. Do not heat an empty pan.
- Induction heats by applying heat directly to the container, but residual heat on the cooktop and container surface after heating remains hot for a long time; be cautious to avoid burns.
- Ensure no foreign substances enter the induction heat outlet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. The coating surface feels rough.
A. The Altenbau coating itself has a rough surface. In the first step, a spray coating is applied by mixing stainless steel + titanium + other metals, and in the second step, a coating liquid is applied. During the first spray coating process, a rough surface caused by the mixture appears. This is not a defect but a natural phenomenon that occurs in the Woodford company's coating process on stainless steel, and it does not affect the coating's durability.
Q. There is a ticking sound.
A. The ticking sound occurs due to the metal expansion differences between aluminum and stainless steel in the product's floor structure. It is the sound caused by friction when a difference in the thermal expansion coefficients or temperature differences causes one metal to expand or contract relative to the other. This phenomenon may be slightly noticeable especially in full-floor structure products. It is safe to use as there are no safety issues, and the sound naturally disappears over time.
Q. Scratches appeared during the use of the coated pan. Is it okay to continue using it?
A. Coating wears off naturally with use. Everyday scratches, coating peeling, or slight dents may occur. Altenbau coated pans apply the coating on stainless steel surfaces, so no harmful substances are generated, and you can continue use. However, if the coating is severely burnt or the non-stick property is greatly damaged, or if food sticks badly during cooking, we recommend purchasing a new frying pan.
Q. The frying pan is not flat, so oil flows to the edge.
A. The frying pan is manufactured to have a slightly raised center to prevent warping. If the pan were made completely flat, when heated, thermal expansion causes the edges to bulge, preventing close contact with the induction heating coil and leading to uneven heating. Also, due to temperature differences, oil tends to collect in the raised center rather than flow to the edges, which is a deliberate design. If the oil distribution is inconvenient, using an oil spray is recommended.
Q. Is the dark spot on the handle rust?
A. The dark spot on the handle is a discoloration caused during the bonding process between the product’s body and handles. Stainless steel products do not rust, so you can use it safely without concern.
Q. I have noticed iridescent spots, gray spots, and discoloration.
A. These are natural phenomena where minerals in water react with stainless steel surfaces to form oxides or discoloration. It is harmless. If removal is needed, wipe the stainless steel surface using vinegar or stainless steel-specific cleaners to resolve the issue.
